The 2024 Dutch Pen Show has no fewer than 11(!) workshops! We have six international workshop hosts who present the workshop in English. The five other workshops are in Dutch.

Admission to the Dutch Pen Show is NOT included in the workshop cost. You can only participate in the workshop if you buy a separate admission ticket to the show!

The Imperfectly Perfect Letter with Vanessa Langton / PenGangsta

 This workshop is suitable for both newbies, experts, and those in between. YouTube and Instagram personality Vanessa Langton will guide you through the process and creativity associated with creating wax seal stamps. Have fun creating stamps for snail mail letters, journaling, and more.

Attendees will receive their very own Wax Seal Set and access to additional materials to help you explore and express yourself through wax seal art. All you need to bring is any additional materials that could enhance your experience like journals, washi tape, scissors, and your fountain pen.

Fude your World with Janine Scribbles (@janinescribbles)

Discover the world of Fude nibs together with Janine Scribbles! During this workshop, Janine will tell you about the Fude nib and help you experience the nib for your own handwriting, or to try new styles.

“Fude’’ means ‘’brush’’ in Japanese. These are specialized nibs bent at the tip to create an upturned writing area, to mimic the effect of a brush for fountain pens. It is used both for writing and drawing. Janine will help you use the fude nib for writing during this workshop.  

Janine’s goal for the event is to share in the practice and to have each attendee walk away with an experience of the Fude nib. With her enthusiasm for the Fude nib you will risk being convinced that this is the most fun nib in the world!

Through our experience as online curated platform, in the past 10 years we have come across many do’s and don’ts when it comes to selling (and buying) online. Since it is for sellers, buyers and platforms alike, important to create a positive experience we would like to take this opportunity to share our experiences with you to help improve your future sales (and purchases) online.

Acanthus Envelope Art with André Massee (@andremassee)

The timeless beauty of the acanthus motif forms the heart of this unique workshop, in which illustrator and biologist André Massee shares his knowledge with you on how these elegant adornments are constructed.

Acanthus motifs are designs inspired by the leaves of the acanthus plant. They have been used as decoration since ancient times. Their undulating leaves and scroll embellishments are considered one of the most iconic and recognizable motifs in art and architecture.

André, who has over 25 years of experience as an illustrator and has worked on projects for, among others, Star Wars and Frozen II, will demonstrate in this workshop some design principles that underlie a successful acanthus design. Then, you will get hands-on experience decorating an envelope with acanthus motifs. Finally, you will ink the design with a fountain pen.

Repeated due to great success! The Fountain Pen Maintenance workshop deals with cleaning, filling and maintaining different types of fountain pens. How do you fill a piston filler to the maximum extent? How do you remove the last remnants of ink from a pen? What do you do if a pen falters? During the workshop these things will be demonstrated and you can ask all your fountain pen-related questions. The workshop is mainly about doing, so bring your fountain pen(s)!

The workshop is best suited for beginning to intermediate fountain pen users.
